Ahhh Kansas City, home of good barbeque, jazz, and arguably one of the worst teams in recorded baseball history.
But, it’s my home and it’ll always be my home, it’s where I started to find out who I really am, what I want out of life, and where I had the most fun. Every year I try to make an exidous to the states to see friends, family and generally recover from the past year.
In 2007 I went just to New Orleans to visit family, and while I had a blast, I longed to see Kansas City which (until that point) I haven’t seen since 2003.
In 2008 I went to New Orleans, Topeka and Kansas City and I only got to spend a night in Kansas City. But, it was one of the best nights I had. Zak, April, Becca, Matt made it out to see me after I put together some last minute details. I wish more of my friends could have came out, but sometimes it’s hard to put something so fun together at the last minute.
But now, in 2009. I’m going to spend about 10 days in Kansas. 7 to 8 of them will be spent in Kansas City. The sad part of it is, that I’ve been gone for so long that I lost my pulse with the city. I know I want to hit up the Power and Light District (I remember when they passed the bond plan for it and the huge uproar it caused), the parks, Country Club Plaza (mmm, upscale shoppings), actually go to a Royals game where they win (a long shot), and hang around with my friends and actually catch up with them.
I actually have a Facebook group (where this will be cross posted too) set up so my KC friends can make suggestions and help me plan my vacation. In return I plan on taking them to a Royals game and then an aftergame celebration at one of the many alcohol serving establishments.
So far, the only things I have planned are:
- A Royals game (probably against the Reds since it might be a sure victory, either the 12th or the 13th)
- A celebatory dinner at Dave and Busters for all my friends and possibly some family.
- A photoshoot, various places around the city, if you want in, let me know.
- A BBQ in the country at my Aunts place or at a Lake (tennative), a going away dinner/celebration.
- Actually seeing Angels Rockbar, going in, and having an awesome time.
- Oh yeah, getting tattoos! Katy! I’m looking at you!
I’m always game for more ideas, and if you have any, let me know. I would like for this to be awesome and I’d love to see all the friends I had and have going from Rusthton, to Antioch, to North, and even for the short stint I had at KU. You guys are awesome and have helped me more than you’ll ever know.
