I can remember being a kid and having all these crushes, and I also remember not really ever acting on them. I know most of the time I was too scared to ask the girl out or I didn’t want to mess up the dynamic we already had. Once you cross that line to the ”friend-zone” it’s usually too late and you’ll end up doing more damage in the long run when/if it fails. But, I do regret not asking some of those girls out, I used to wonder what life would’ve been like if I had and they said yes.
But I’m still glad I didn’t and I sort of know why. You never know what is coming around the next corner and we always end up taking risks. These risks may end up paying up in the end for you, or they might ruin you. Do you have the “sisu” to continually risk it? You’ll have your share of failure, and it’ll be a lot of failure but the end result is always, *always*, worth it. Why though?
You end up fighting for what you want, what you really believe in.
I didn’t know what I really wanted out of life until six months ago, I had a generally idea, but I had to experience it to know that I really wanted it. What I found out is that what I want is something more than the loving wife and two kids that most want. Anyone can get a wife, hell, if I really wanted too I could order one and have it delivered. I want someone who I can share my passions with, who will want to experience life (not just live it), who wants the absolute best out of it all and not back down one bit. They have to be a bit insane, like the little odd things.
Once you find what you want though, it can be a little hard to compromise. Actually, it’ll be hard to compromise, but you’ll know when you got it. It’ll all come together, and you’ll have the courage to get your happiness.
“Humans are cowards in the face of happiness, you need courage to face happiness.” – Momoko Ryugasaki
Courage, sisu, happiness. Life, love. We are blessed. Life is too short to settle for second best. Find what you want, get the courage to take it, and be happy. I know what I want, I lost what I once found, but it’ll be mine again. This is a fair warning, so you better watch out.
