Time closes in on my vacation, and I’m getting excited. In a week, I’ll be on a Airbus A330-300 in Business Class all suited up flying to Charlotte then to New Orleans then a 45minute drive to Thibodaux. I have so many ideas of what I want to do while I’m there, and in Kansas City. I debate what to take with me because, well, I don’t know where my travels will lead me.
Though, when I pack my bags, I will take pictures (of course) and post them to my Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ian_munroe/) page. Of course, the weather is going to be different this time around, I usually do this trek in the March-April time frame rather than the May-June time frame, so it’s going to be drastically warmer (and more humid). Which sort of sucks since I mostly have jeans, long-sleeved shirts and such.
I plan on taking my defunct Black Macbook with me to get the battery and LCD replaced, and giving it to someone. Don’t know who yet, but it will be given away. Oh and I forgot, I’ll be sending my Nintendo DSi with GTA: Chinatown Wars to my friend out in California. One of the perks of buying this cool techie gadget junk, is that when I get a replacement for it, I give the old one away.
All my techie garb that I will be bringing I pretty much identified is in this picture:
The only addition will be my 1tb LaCie network harddrive which has all my real data on it.
My plans? Well. I want to recreate this photo:
I’ll have my new camera, my flash, and gear, so I while I want to recreate it, I might improve on it a bit.
Of course my other plans include the following:
- Getting 2 to 3 tattoos.
- Play with my new Nikon D90 and lighting gear.
- Watching a Royals game with friends (my customized, personalized jersey is on it’s way home ready for me).
- Have some photo shoots with friends around the fun bits of KC.
- Have a BBQ and dinner with friends and family in KC.
- Have a crab boil/fish fry with friends and family in Thibodaux.
Anything above and beyond that would be great. I charish my friends and family and I’d like to have some good times with them, it’s not often that there are get together’s like this and should at least happen once or twice a year. I mean, we all have a MySpace or a Facebook so we do know what’s going on each other’s lives, but there is something about a gathering, party, or what-have-you, that, I dunno, just makes it even better. It’s easy for me to see the fun in this since I spend 11 months out of the year on another continent!
All of this, will be properly documented. I’ll have a new iPhone to play with and my Twitter (http://twitter.com/ianmunroe) page will be freakishly busy, and at the end of the day I’m sure I’ll have plenty of photos to go through. According to Aperture, I just took over 1200 photos over 4 months during my deployment to Qatar, and last year I took around 800 photos during my last trip home. I have no set goal for the amount of photos I want to take, but I want to take a lot.
This is all wait and see for now, next Sunday I start the adventure. Yee-freaking-haw.
