Hola! Welcome to my blog, here you'll read about the random things I dribble on and on about, or what I see through my camera lens. :D

Notes.

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

I’ve been writing a little bit between study periods, here’s what I got so far. It’s not that structured, but that’ll come in time.

The men and women…

Of the 86th Maintenance Squadron’s Propulsion Flight.

Invaluable assets.
Superb Maintainers of the upmost quality.
A cut above the rest.
Each and everyone deserves an award for the countless hours spent repairing, maintaning, supporting the efforts of those who fly this magnicifient beast.
Each one displays the Air Force Core Values in their never ending work ethic to ensure the Ramstein and other C130s still fly, fight and win.
The days where work never seems to end, everything seems to go wrong, and nothing ever gets done. We all endured these days, our blood, sweat and scars show that by the end of that day, we earned our keep.
If others choose not to recognize us and our accomplishments, then so be it. We know what we have done, where we contributed, and we made it all a little bit better than how we left it. We are Air Force Maintainers, C130 engine and propeller champions. We own these planes, these engines and these propellers.
The number of engines and props? Too many to count, to save the Air Force billions with a big giant B. The CIRF is gone, the E’s are one foot out the door, the shop is quiet. But if you listen closely, you can hear the hundreds that have graced these halls, glad and faithful that they were able to serve with the best Maintainers the Air Force has to offer.
The stories will live on, afte each telling they get a bit more abserd than the last telling. But the meaning will always be there, the meanig will always be with us.
Pride, we has it.

Plenty of Air Force key words and phrases, fixing of grammar will come later as well. :P

Looking up., originally uploaded by ianmunroe.

I hate staged photography, but I figure I’d try my hand at it. Set my D90 up on my crappy tripod, broke out my infrared remote and snap, snap, snap.

Prop.

Prop., originally uploaded by ianmunroe.

This was taken before the shop opened for the day, only a single row of lights were on and it created this neat effect down the shop.

Genesis.

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

Genesis.
Genesis as it were, the first documentation of me with a camera and a suit (at the same time!).
I was 4 at the time, and it was taken at my Grandmother Winnie and Grandfather Eddie’s 50th Wedding Anniversary at Port St Lucie, Florida.
My dad is right behind me making sure I don’t drop his Nikkormat camera and Vivtar flash. He still has the camera and flash to this day and both still work like they were new.

In the states.

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

I made it! I got thru customs and now I’m in Charlotte waiting for my connecting flight to New Orleans. For all that I spy around me, I’m the only one in a tie, let a lone a suit. I got a good gripe about people crowding the luggage carasel, but that’ll come once I touch down in New Orleans and I get settled. But I did learn that I am in fact, a bit of a clostraphobic.
The flight overall was very nice, and everyone should fly Business class at least once in their life. It may seem expensive and not worth it, but it totally is. I had a 4 course dinner, a 2 course breakfast, a huge chair, my own power outlet, etc, etc, etc… I’m now gonna save my pennies from now on and fly Business class whenever I can. I actually slept on the plane, and that lone makes it worth it for me.
Of course, now that I’m back in the states, I’m going through a bit of a culture shock. I forget how different Europeans and Americans are, and I notice all the little differences. But that will happen with differences in culture, you’d think I’d be used to it by now. Ha.

Now for something a little different. This has nothing to do with my trip, but probably something I should’ve said a long time ago to a certain someone. (I know you read this, I use Google Analytics so I pretty much know who reads my blog ;) )
I’m sorry, my intention was never to cause drama and the last thing I ever wanted to do was make drama. I know drama surrounds me, but I want and wanted to keep it away from us. I did mean it that I wanted to work on our relationship, even if it is as friends. You’re a great person, and I’d like to keep you in my circle. I just have this feeling.

Yeah. Okay, enough of that. :-p

It’s starting to hit me. I’ll be home soon. Home. With family, and soon enough, my best friends in the whole world. Becca, you ready for this? You better be!

Flying Gear.

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

I’ve been gearing up for this trip, after all, I have a lot going this trip and I want things to go as smoothy (and most importantly, funly) as possible. So the following is the gear I’m bringing on the trip.

1 Suit. (Will wear, w/ green tie and black w/ green stripes shirt)
1 Rock-n-Roll Sport Coat (my favorite :D ).
3 Ties (Red, purple, green).
3 Collared French-cuffed shirts (black, black w/ green stripes, black w/ red, white, gray stripes).
5 Express Graphic Tees.
4 Pair shorts.
3 Pair jeans.
1 Adidas Real Madrid track suit.
2 Adidas football (soccer) jerseys.
1 Pair black steel-toed boots.
2 Pair shoes.
Plenty of socks and underwears.

That takes care of the clothes, now how about the tech gear.

1 MacBook Pro. (Will be in my carry-on)
1 Nikon D40 w/ a 18 to 55mm and 55 to 200mm lenses. (Will be in my carry-on)
1 Panasonic DMC-FX100. (Will be in my carry-on)
5 various PS3 games to trade in.
1 Ps3 w/ 2 controllers.
1 16gb Gen 2 iPod Touch.
1 80gb Gen 5 iPod.

The other various bits.

300 Qatari Riyal. (To distribute between friends and family, don’t worry. It’s only 82 dollars. :P )
Business Cards.
2 Pair sunglasses.
2 Photography mags, and the latest issue of Mac|Life.
1 Tripod.
2 Movies (Kamikaze Girls & Dolls).

Things to buy at the airport before flight.

Latest issue of Top Gear and my customary pre-flight Carmel Mocciatto from Starbucks.

Seems like a lot of stuff, but it’s not. It’ll all fit and be under 70lbs each and it all will keep me entertained.
